Caring for Our Caretakers

In our community, our people are our strength. Strength doesn’t mean carrying every burden alone. Even our strongest need to take care of themselves.

If we want to continue building a healthy, sovereign Nation, we must make space for healing — not just for our families, but for those who lead them. When our leaders are well, our governance is well and our sovereignty is at its strongest.

When we care for the hearts of those at the table, we create decisions rooted in balance, compassion, and clarity.

I am committed to keeping my mental health strong by staying in therapy, and encouraging all of our leaders to do the same.

Healing is not just personal.

It is political, it is spiritual, it is responsible, and it is sacred.

I believe in promoting mental wellness for all, from our youth to our elders, from our front-line workers to our Tribal Council. This means:

  • Normalizing rest, reflection, and counseling — not as weakness, but as responsible leadership.

  • Providing confidential mental health resources for employees and leaders alike.

  • Encouraging wellness policies that protect our people from burnout and emotional fatigue.
