Restoring Trust
Our people deserve to feel safe and respected where they work. The work that every person is doing in our community - tribal and non - contributes to our sovereignty and government. Many of our people have shared that they feel unheard, unsupported, and fearful within our own employment system. No one should feel that their career or livelihood depends on who they know.
As a community, we value transparency and we value the dignity of every Tribal Member and Employee. When we feel unstable, our programs suffer and so do the people we are serving. It is time to rebuild that trust.
I am committed to:
Clear and Transparent Policies that apply to everyone
Success should never be about who you know, or who you may have angered. We all deserve to succeed.
Ensuring Due Process for Everyone
No one should feel forced out of their career choice. Policies exist to be followed.
Our appeals process exists so that every person can be heard. But you need to make it down that path to use it. No more admin leave to black list pipelines.
Updating our Leave Policies and Ensuring Fairness
We have cultural and education leave to allow our Tribal Members to rise up, but if they cannot use them they are useless. Managers need to be held accountable when leave is unfairly denied.
Further, our Parental Leave should be updated to match or exceed surrounding governments. Currently, we receive only 12 weeks while others in WA receive a minimum of 16 weeks.
